Sailors’ Society nets €4,000 from awards night

Sailors' Society at IBJ awards

Around €4,000 has been raised for maritime welfare charity Sailors’ Society at a media awards ceremony in the Netherlands.

Sailors’ Society was the Supported Charity for the 2022 International Bulk Journal (IBJ) Awards in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, in November. The money will be used to support seafarers and their families around the world.

Sailors’ Society is supported by Wescom Group and several staff members have been ambassadors for the charity.

The IBJ Awards during the Night of the Year for the maritime bulk industry at the World Trade Centre salute the achievements of notable individuals and organisations.

Sailors’ Society Chief Executive Officer, Sara Baade, says, “We’re extremely grateful to IBJ, and particularly Ray Girvan, for its ongoing support and to everyone who attended the dinner for their generous donations towards our work helping seafarers in need.”

For more than 200 years, Sailors’ Society provides practical, emotional and spiritual welfare to the world’s 1.6 million seafarers. Sailors’ Society chaplains and ship visitors have a presence in 87 global ports, with wider projects and services covering 21 countries. For more information on the charity’s work, see www.sailors-society.org
