Parachute flares featured in a multi-agency nighttime sea search off the Isle of Wight.
The August search for a person believed to be in the water off East Cowes involved Cowes RNLI Inshore Lifeboat, Bembridge RNLI Inshore Lifeboat, Bembridge RNLI All Weather Lifeboat, Rescue 175 helicopter, multiple local Coastguard Rescue Teams, the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and police.
A number of parachute flares were used to illuminate the area and aid the search.
The incident began when an exhausted woman was helped out of the water at East Cowes by an off-duty paramedic. Items were found on the beach and it was thought another person was in the water. It later transpired that the woman was alone.
