
Eleven vessels made it safely across a treacherous Coos Bay Bar, Oregon, USA, during a January storm following the light from parachute flares.
US Coast Guard Station Coos Bay personnel assisted them in swells and breaking seas of up to 24 feet.
It launched two Motor Lifeboats and assisted 11 vessels across the bar while lighting 10 parachute flares to aid the visibility of the waves.
