RNLI lifeboat crew fired two illuminating flares to locate and save a person in the water in darkness at Bognor Regis, UK.
The UK Coastguard requested the launch after receiving reports of a person in the water. This happened in the early hours of a morning at the end of April.
The D Class Inshore Lifeboat (ILB) launched first and started searching the coastline and was followed by the all-weather Shannon class lifeboat.
Coastguard units from Selsey and Littlehampton, Sussex Police and SECAmb were also on the scene.
Units on the shore reported hearing shouting, so the helmsman of the ILB fired two illuminating flares and turned the engine off while the lifeboat crew shouted. They heard a faint response and headed towards it, eventually spotting the person in the water.
The ILB crew recovered the person and took him to paramedics to the shore.
The crews involved were: ALB Coxswain Colin Pullenger, mechanic Phil Pitham, Will Moir, Andy Lee, Max Wiseman and Neil Hopcraft.
ILB Helmsman Harry Emmence, James Albrey and Sam Corcoran -Smith.
