Flare helps RNLI spot person in the water

RNLI personnel located and saved a person in the water near Clacton, Essex, after a flare was launched to illuminate the sea.

Clacton RNLI was asked to respond by the Coastguard. A person fell into the sea when their three-metre dingy capsized.

The Atlantic 85 lifeboat David Porter MPS was launched. After the crew fired a flare, they located the person around a quarter of a mile from Gunfleet Sands wind farm.

The rescued boater was taken back to the lifeboat station and received medical checks.
